Graduate Student Association
The Graduate Student Association (GSA) is a student-run organization established for the benefit of all graduate and professional students at Kennesaw State University. All officially-enrolled graduate and professional students are automatically members of the GSA. The GSA promotes scholarship, develops a spirit of cooperation and fellowship among graduate students, and fosters interaction between graduate students and faculty. Who do we fund?
Graduate Students who are interested in travelling for a conference with an accepted research project, research poster and/or students who are interested to attend a conference to represent KSU.
How does it work?
As part of the process, students are required to present a 3-min pre and post-travel presentation in our monthly General Body Meetings events and to submit all documentation in order to be reimbursed. Please note third-party payments are NOT ACCEPTED, no food expenses are reimbursed and no membership fees are reimbursed.
How much can we help you with?
Domestic Travel – Up to $1000 per semester
International Travel – Up to $1500 per semester

How do I join?
All graduate and professional students are automatically members of the GSA. We are always available to answer questions about the organization, the program, or the life of a graduate student at KSU. Every graduate program has a Graduate Student Representative responsible for sharing your ideas with us. You are welcome email us directly.
President - Andrea Carpio
Andrea is Dual Master in Business Administration and Information System student from El Salvador. She received her undergraduate degree in International Business and Marketing from The University of Chester, U.K in 2015. Andrea enjoys exercising, cooking and baking, as well as spending time with friends and family.
Vice President - Jessica Bailey
Jessica Bailey is currently pursing her Masters in Business Administration. She obtained her bachelors from KSU in 2016 in Business with a concentration in Accounting. She has dreams of obtaining a PhD in Sports Management and teaching financial literacy to athletes both at the professional and collegiate level
Jessica currently works at Kennesaw State in the business office focusing on budgets.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking and attending sporting events.
Treasurer - Aminata Hydara
Amy is a graduate student from The Gambia who is working on her MBA at Kennesaw. She received her undergraduate degree in Economics from Kennesaw in 2016 before working for a year and then returning for graduate studies. Amy enjoys dancing, writing and watching TV, and spending time with her loved ones.
Secretary - Nalucha ShakalimaNalucha Shakalima is a Graduate Student from Zambia pursing a Masters Degree in Nurse Education. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Albany State University, graduating as one of the top students in her class. After graduation, she became licensed as a Registered Nurse and has worked in the Operating Room as well as Labor Delivery areas. Nalucha decided to return to school to earn a degree in nursing education. She believes she can make a bigger impact by teaching the next generation of nurse professionals. In her spare time Nalucha loves yoga, traveling, cooking and blogging.
Communications Director - Odera Ezenna
Odera is a graduate student from Nigeria who is currently enrolled in the Integrated Global Communications program at Kennesaw. She recently received her Bachelors in Mass Communication from the University of West Georgia. Odera’s hobbies include writing short stories, swimming, singing and watching as many TV shows as possible.
Graduate Student Representative - Nelson Zange Tsaku

Computer Science graduate and Data Science enthusiast, Nelson got his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Kennesaw State University. During his undergraduate parkour, he served as Senator for the College of Computing and Software Engineering with goal to bridge the gap between students, lecturers, and resources in the academic realm. Nelson also served as Supplemental Instruction Leader at KSU in Calculus I, Chemistry I and Smart Center tutor for Calculus I and Ordinary Differential Equations. Upon completion of his undergraduate degree, he participated in a number of competitions with competitive results. He currently works as Graduate research assistant at Data X Lab (KSU Marietta Campus) on data science-related fields such as analysis and processing, using current research technologies. As an active student member of GSA, he aims to bridge the gap between graduate students, lecturers, and the job world. His leisure constitutes workout, Basketball, news and spending time with family and friends.

Graduate Student Representative - Gianni Bisio

Gianni Bisio is in his second years as a Ph.D. student and Paul D. Coverdell Fellow in the International Conflict Management program. His education background includes a B.A. in Psychology from California State University, Sacramento and an M.A. in Peace and Development Studies from the University of Limerick (Ireland). Before entering the Ph.D. program, Gianni was a Volunteer with the United States Peace Corps in both Cambodia (’13-’15) and Rwanda (’16-’17).
